SS-12D11 Miniature Slide Switch SPDT, 3-Pin ON-ON for PCB Mounting
The SS-12D11 is a miniature slide switch SPDT with three through-hole pins: one common terminal and two selectable throws, switched by a sliding actuator. ON-ON action, rated 0.3A at 30V DC, 10,000 mechanical cycles. RoHS 3 and REACH compliant. Bag or tray packaging, MOQ 1,000 pcs, free samples for qualified projects.
Miniature Slide Switch 3 Pin Overview: What This Switch Does on a Board
A mini slide switch 3 pin part like the SS-12D11 does one job: it connects a common terminal to one of two other terminals, and it keeps that connection until someone moves the actuator. There is no spring return and no electronics involved. That makes it a simple way to select between two signal paths, two operating modes or two power sources on a small board.
The SS-12D11 solders directly into the PCB through its three bent terminals, so it needs no panel cutout or mounting hardware. Because the pins are bent at a right angle, the switch body lies flat along the board instead of standing up from it, and the actuator is on the side of the body. The through-hole terminals also hold the switch against the force of a thumb pushing the actuator, which matters on products where the switch is operated often. The contacts are silver-plated copper alloy and the housing is high-temperature plastic rated UL94V-0.
Miniature Slide Switch SPDT or a Standard-Size Switch
Choose a miniature slide switch SPDT when board space is the limit and the load is small. It is rated for signal and light power duty, not for mains or motors. If your design needs more positions, more poles or a higher current, look at the full slide switch range instead, and the mini slide switch guide explains how the sizes compare.

3 Pin Slide Switch Pinout: SS-12D11 Terminal Layout
On a 3 pin slide switch the three terminals have fixed roles. For the SS-12D11 they are:
- Pin 1 (Throw A): the first switched output position.
- Pin 2 (COM): the common terminal. The sliding contact is always connected to this pin.
- Pin 3 (Throw B): the second switched output position.
With the actuator in the first position, COM is connected to Throw A. Slide it to the other end and COM is connected to Throw B. The switch is break-before-make or make-before-break depending on the contact design, so check the drawing if a momentary open circuit in between would matter to your circuit.
Always confirm the terminal numbering against the product drawing before PCB layout. Different manufacturers number the same switch type differently, and a footprint copied from another brand can end up mirrored.
3 Pin Slide Switch Wiring Diagram: Three Common Ways to Connect It
Input Pin 2 (COM) Pin 1 (Throw A) Pin 3 (Throw B) Load A Load B
Choosing between two loads or two signals
Connect the input to COM and one load to each throw. Sliding the actuator sends the input to Load A or Load B. This is the standard use of an SPDT switch, for example to route a signal to one of two inputs or to select a mode.
Using it as a simple on/off switch
Connect the input to COM and the load to one throw, and leave the other throw unconnected. One position then closes the circuit and the other opens it. The ON-ON label describes the switch itself, not how many positions you have to wire.
Selecting one of two power sources
Connect the two sources to the two throws and take the output from COM. Only one source is connected at a time. Keep the current within the 2A rating, and do not use the switch to connect two supplies of different voltage directly to the same load without a protection circuit.
Miniature Slide Switch SPDT Key Features
Small Board Footprint
Mounts straight onto the PCB with no panel cutout or extra hardware, which keeps the board area free for other parts.
SPDT Circuit Selection
One common terminal switches between two outputs, which covers mode selection and two-way signal routing.
Right-Angle Bent Pins
Three bent pins pass through the board and are soldered, so the switch lies flat along the PCB and the pins hold it in place when the actuator is pushed.
Side-Actuated Slider
The actuator is on the side of the body, which suits products that are operated from the side. The product drawing shows the exact slide direction.
10,000-Cycle Mechanical Life
Enough for products where the switch is set a few times a day. Electrical life at rated load is 5,000 cycles.
UL94V-0 Housing
High-temperature plastic housing with a V-0 flame rating, suited to hand or wave soldering.
RoHS 3 & REACH Compliant
Compliance documents are available for export projects and customer audits.
Where This Mini Slide Switch Is Used
Which Vistar 3-Pin SPDT Slide Switch Do You Need?
Vistar makes several 3-pin SPDT slide switches. The ratings differ, so choose by your load first.
| Model | Rating | Best For |
|---|---|---|
| SS-12D11 (this page) | 2A 125V AC | Side-operated slider, right-angle bent pins, small boards and light loads |
| SS-12D00 vertical SPDT slide switch | 0.5A at 50V DC | Higher current or voltage, vertical PCB mounting |

Miniature Slide Switch SPDT FAQ
How do you wire a 3 pin slide switch?
Connect your input to the middle pin (COM) and one load or signal to each outer pin. Sliding the actuator connects COM to one outer pin or the other. See the 3 pin slide switch wiring diagram on this page for the layout, and check the product drawing for the pin numbering.
What is the pinout of the SS-12D11?
For this 3 pin slide switch pinout, pin 1 is Throw A, pin 2 is COM and pin 3 is Throw B. In one position COM connects to Throw A, in the other it connects to Throw B. Confirm the numbering against the drawing before you lay out the board.
Can I use this mini slide switch as an on/off switch?
Yes. For a mini slide switch on off circuit, connect the input to COM and the load to one throw, and leave the other throw unconnected. The circuit is closed in one position and open in the other.
What current can it switch?
The contact rating is 2A 125V AC. It is meant for signal and light power loads. Do not use it on mains voltage, and for motors, lamps or other loads with high inrush current choose a switch with a higher rating, such as the SS-12D00 at 0.5A.
What do “side-actuated” and “right-angle” mean for this switch?
Right-angle means the pins are bent at 90 degrees, so the switch body lies flat along the PCB. Side-actuated means the actuator is on the side of the body rather than on top. The product drawing shows the exact direction of the slide, which you need for the enclosure cutout.
Is it a through-hole or an SMD switch?
Through-hole, with right-angle bent pins. It is not a surface-mount part. If you need an SMD slide switch, contact us with your requirements.
Where can I get the 3 pin slide switch datasheet and drawing?
Datasheet and drawings are available on request. Send the part number SS-12D11 to sales@vistarelectronics.com or use the contact page.
What are the MOQ and lead time, and can I get a free sample?
Standard MOQ is 1,000 pieces with a 2–4 week production lead time. Free samples are available for qualified engineering projects. Contact us with your company details, the application and the part number SS-12D11.
