Mini HDMI Connector C Type 19Pin Overview

The Mini HDMI connector C type 19pin HDMI-CM-1903 is a male plug that solders onto a PCB. It clamps onto the edge of a 1.0mm board, so the board itself plugs straight into the Mini HDMI port of a camera, tablet, monitor or other display. The plug measures 10.42mm × 2.42mm, the Type C size, and carries the same 19 signals as a Type A HDMI connector in a much narrower shell. This Mini HDMI plug PCB design is meant for adapters, plug-in modules and accessories that connect directly to a device without a cable in between.

The straddle mount Mini HDMI structure holds the plug on both sides of the board edge, which gives better mechanical retention than a plug soldered on one surface only. The 19 contacts are gold-plated copper alloy, the shell is nickel-plated stainless steel and the housing is LCP. The plug is designed for HDMI 2.1 systems and works with HDMI 1.4 and 2.0 as well. The bandwidth you reach depends on your chipset, cable and PCB routing.

Type C or Type A: Check the Pin Numbering Before Layout

Type C carries the same 19 signals as Type A, but the pin numbering is different. Do not reuse a Type A footprint or pin table; follow the product drawing for this part. For a side-by-side comparison of the connector types, see our HDMI Type A vs Type C vs Type D guide, and for the standard Type A pinout and layout see the HDMI 19 pin connector guide. If you need a full-size male plug for the same kind of clamp-on board, see the 19 pin HDMI male plug. Interface background is on hdmi.org.

The connector is made with lead-free plating and halogen-free housing material, and meets RoHS 3 and REACH requirements. Free engineering samples and OEM/ODM customization are available.

Key Features

Mini HDMI Plug Key Features

🔒

Straddle Mount for 1.0mm PCB

The plug clamps onto the board edge and is soldered to it, which holds up better to repeated plugging than a plug soldered on one surface only.

📐

Compact 10.42mm × 2.42mm Size

The Type C shell is much narrower than a Type A connector, which suits small adapters and plug-in modules.

🔌

Works with HDMI 1.4 / 2.0 / 2.1 Systems

Uses the standard Type C 19-pin interface. Features such as HDR, VRR and eARC depend on the connected source and display, not on the connector.

🥇

Gold-Plated Contacts

19 gold-plated copper alloy contacts with contact resistance of 30 mΩ or less.

🌡️

-40°C to +85°C

Rated for a wide temperature range, with a nickel-plated stainless steel shell.

🔧

5,000 Mating Cycles

35N maximum insertion force and 10N minimum withdrawal force, for accessories that are plugged in and out in service.

♻️

RoHS & REACH Compliant

Lead-free plating and halogen-free housing for products sold in the EU and other regulated markets.

Applications

Straddle Mount Mini HDMI Plug Applications

FAQ

Mini HDMI Plug FAQ

Is the HDMI-CM-1903 a plug or a socket?

It is a male plug (Type C, Mini HDMI) that solders onto a PCB. It goes into a Mini HDMI port; it does not receive a cable. If you need a female Mini HDMI socket to mount on your own device, this is not the right part, so contact us and we will suggest one.

What is the difference between straddle mount and SMT Mini HDMI?

A straddle mount Mini HDMI plug clamps onto the edge of the PCB and is soldered to it, so the board edge sits inside the connector. A plug soldered on one surface relies on the solder joints alone. For a board that is plugged in and out often, or pulled on by a cable or enclosure, the clamp style holds up better.

How is Mini HDMI Type C different from Type A?

Type C is the smaller connector, 10.42mm × 2.42mm on this part, against 13.9mm wide for Type A. Both carry 19 signals, but the pin numbering is different, so a Type A pinout cannot be reused. See our Type A vs Type C vs Type D guide for the details.

Does this connector support HDMI 2.1 and 8K?

The 19-pin interface is the same across HDMI 1.4, 2.0 and 2.1, so the connector works with any of them. Whether you reach 48 Gbps or 8K depends on your chipset, cable and PCB routing. Resolution and audio formats are set by the connected source and display, not by the connector. See hdmi.org for the specification.

What PCB thickness does it need?

The HDMI-CM-1903 is made for a 1.0mm PCB. If your board is a different thickness, contact us before you finalize the layout.

Is it RoHS and REACH compliant?

Yes. It uses lead-free plating and halogen-free LCP housing and meets RoHS 3 and REACH. Compliance documents are available for OEM/ODM customers. See the EU RoHS directive for background.

What is the MOQ and lead time?

Standard MOQ for the HDMI-CM-1903 is 1,000 pieces with a 2–4 week lead time. Free engineering samples are available for qualified projects. Volume pricing is offered for orders of 10,000+ pieces. Contact our sales team through the contact page.

Do you provide PCB footprints and drawings?

Yes, drawings and footprint files are available on request. Please send your project details and the part number HDMI-CM-1903.
